West End Compost Hub
During my time as an Architectural Intern at BriggsKnowles Architecture + Design, I contributed to a research initiative examining Providence, Rhode Island’s existing organic waste infrastructure and opportunities to divert residential food waste from landfills.
My work involved mapping the city's existing composting networks, analyzing estimated food waste generation across census block groups, and identifying potential collection opportunities within municipal waste pickup zones. Through data visualization and geographic analysis, this research explored how Providence's existing infrastructure could support a more accessible and decentralized composting system.
The research was in conjunction with the construction of the West End Compost Hub, a community-scale composting facility designed to expand local organics processing capacity. I contributed architectural renderings and an axonometric drawing to communicate the facility's spatial organization, operational infrastructure, and relationship to the surrounding neighborhood.
